2023 Portfolio
Keep it in a locket - you'll miss it later.
2022 | Pencil on Paper |
21.5 x 15 inches (height x width)
In this piece, I tried to focus on every little detail: the patterns of my grandmother’s bag, the textures of me and my grandparents’ clothes, and the background. Using the benefit of pencil drawings, I made sure to differentiate the shade contrasts between the dark and bright parts, while keeping every pencil stroke smooth and natural.
In the kitchen
2023 | Ink pens on Illustration board |
19 x 14 inches (height x width)
To focus on the textures of the props and to emphasize the tone contrasts, I intentionally chose to draw this with black ink pens. For example, in terms of textures, I tried to make the metal pans and stove look shiny, as well as the glass props to look as smooth and clear as possible. Moreover, I made sure to clearly differentiate the darker, shadowed parts from the brighter parts.
Coming Alive
2023 | Color pencils on Paper |
21.5 x 15 inches (height x width)
In this drawing of the Lego flowers I made, I tried to highlight the vibrant, lively colors of the flowers and the vase. To make the vivid tones of the flowers stand out even more, I mostly used achromatic colors in the background. Moreover, I made the texture of the flowers denser than the background to accentuate its rich tones.
Eve the Tiger
2023 | Color pencils on Paper |
30.5 x 21.3 inches (height x width)
I chose to draw this same tiger from four different angles to focus on expressing the different textures of the fur that this tiger named Eve has. I highlighted each strand of the fur using vivid, complementary colors, and blurred out the background to make sure the tiger really stood out.
Progression
2022 | Acrylic paint on Canvas |
13 x 8.5 inches (height x width) x 5 pieces
I was curious about how much people could alter the look of the same objects inside their unconsciousness. Through this piece, I wanted to explore the possibility of image altercation and show how much the stone bench in front of my house could be expressed in different ways.
Part of Me
2022 | Acrylic paint on Canvas |
18 x 21 inches (height x width)
Using a technique called ‘free association’, I drew anything that came into my mind at that moment, without planning or sketching ahead of time. Incorporating my major inspirations, such as nature, diverse patterns, and vivid color schemes- both bright and dark, I tried to express ‘my universe’ and how I view the world.
Tolerate it
2022 | Acrylic paint and Paint markers on Canvas |
25 x 21 inches (height x width)
I believe that humans are all similar but are special and unique in their own ways. I expressed the metaphysical parts of humans’ internal conceptions or thought processes in an abstract way using methods such as fragmentation, combination, and arrangement.

Digital drawing
Paint markers on Illustration board
3891 x 2607 pixels (width x height)
10 x 15 inches (height x width)
Inspired by the “Google Doodle” illustration series from Google, I drew my own “Google Doodle” if it were to be Easter and Halloween. Because both holidays are filled with joy and vibrance, I used bright colors on both of them. Moreover, I incorporated symbols, illustrations, and color schemes that resemble each of the holidays.

28.5 x 21 inches (height x width)
9.5 x 13 inches (height x width)
19.5 x 25.5 inches (height x width)
In this series, I implemented Mondrian’s abstraction techniques from “Portrait of a Rabbit” to “Rabbits Reimagined” and from “Give me the wings to fly” to “Flutters”. I tried to express the impressions I received from rabbits and butterflies intuitively, using colors and patterns.
My Universe
2023 | Oil pastels and Acrylic paint on Canvas |
39 x 31.5 inches (height x width)
Using a technique called ‘free association’, I drew anything that came into my mind at that moment, without planning or sketching ahead of time. Incorporating my major inspirations, such as nature, diverse patterns, and vivid color schemes- both bright and dark, I tried to express ‘my universe’ and how I view the world.
An Ode to Life
2023 | Acrylic paint on Canvas |
28.5 x 35.5 inches (height x width)
We are currently living in a pretty dark society, filled with anxiety and stress, knotted like a ball of wire that’s hard to untangle. Life can be pretty tough- some miserable and painful moments, but joyful moments too. Starting from the colors that usually connotate negative emotions - such as blue being sadness and red being anger, I put yellow, which always represents happiness, on the very top layer on its own, to highlight that we do have some happy moments too, and life can be pretty exciting if you “untangle that wire”, or work for it.
What's been on your mind?

25.5 x 19.5 inches
28.5 x 21 inches (height x width)
I believe being abstract is expressing the essence of a certain object, and we cannot see it easily because it’s mostly hidden under the phenomena. Through Mondrian’s abstraction techniques, I tried to visualize the true essence of the objects by simplifying the shape forms.
but are YOU happy?
2023 | Paint markers on a mirror, Sculpture made with wire | 53 x 78 x 25 inches (height x width x depth)
Around the empty part of the mirror, shaped like a cloud, there are bubbly-looking, colorful, and unique characters, all smiling and standing out in their own way. Facing the mirror is a dark human figure made of wire, representing one’s unconsciousness. This piece expresses the mindset that the more depressed you are, the happier you will pretend to be in public.
heartbroken
2023 | Styrofoam boards, Acrylic paint, Paint markers, Wooden drawing board, Ziploc bags, Infusion sets |
40 x 54 x 60 inches (height x width x depth)
I believe humans are complications with multiple egos, such as emotions and different thoughts, combined inside. In this piece, I showed how these multiple egos harmonize together to create a human.
Seasons of...
2023 | Acrylic paint on Canvas, Digitally written letters and sound screened with a projector |
15 x 15 inches (height x width) x 4 pieces
This piece signifies the increment of obsession. The paintings signify the four seasons of the year. I tried to express the internal parts of humans with the exponentially increasing emotions we feel throughout the year.
Flooded
2023 | Wire, Foam boards, Paint markers, Color pencils, Acrylic paint, Hat, Canvas fabric, Digitally drawn images and sound screened with a projector |
42 x 16 x 14 inches (height x width x depth)
Referring to Carl Jung’s shadow theory, this work symbolizes one’s unconscious mind, along with the patterns drawn to represent the overflown obsession towards happiness that modern people chase. The silhouettes of the faces and patterns shot from the projector signify our mindsets. As a whole, this piece represents how human psychology changes continuously.
